Standard Lead Times for Investment Castings

This process can be completed in 2-3 days.

Wax Delivery

Once a PO is placed, waxes can be ordered and be delivered in 2-3 days.

Rapid Prototyping

With no queue in manufacturing, parts can be pushed through the process in roughly 2 weeks.

Hard Tooling

Tool manufacture ranges from 3-6 weeks depending on number of factors. As such, lead times for hard tooling ranges more from 6-9 weeks to submission of castings.

Elements Which Affect Lead Times

A complex component may require multiple iterations to reach acceptable quality levels.

Industry requirements

Audits, validations, and capability studies add to lead times.

Design for manufacture (DFM)

If a component is a brand new component or conversion from a different manufacturing process and still requires some DFM, this can add to the engineering time required at the onset of the project.

Additional outside processes.

Heat treat and plating will add additional development time.
